background:
After the various one-offs (Lisbon Lions,
46664 Concert), two series of Proms gigs
(the spring and
winter legs),
the brief reunion, and the
partial regrouping to record
Graffiti Soul, the stable, second-classic, line-up were back together
to celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary playing life.
Rumour was rife throughout the fan-base that the event would herald the reappearance of Derek Forbes
and/or Mick MacNeil; these rumours persisting when the line-up was never
formally confirmed even before the gigs started. However, familiar faces were back with
Andy Gillespie back on keyboards, and a heavily bearded
Eddie Duffy on bass (although the beard disappeared mid-tour).
The same line-up also hit the road mid-2009, initially as promotion for the forthcoming
Graffiti Soul, and then for a series of gigs across Europe which continued
the 30 Years Live celebrations.
