background
Film Theme was the third instrumental from Real To Real Cacophony and
the most structured and formed. Obviously inspired by the the band watching late night
spaghetti westerns, it revealed a new facet to the group: one of instrumentalists.
It was used during the later Real To Real Cacophony gigs as opening music.
A radical reworking of the song turned up a year later, given away on a limited edition flexi-disc with the
I Travel single. Unfortunately this remains the only source of this version of the song.
"The original was recorded at Rockfield Studios in South Wales. Brian recorded
the drums in the corridor - sounds ace. Mariella Frostrup was the tape operator for the first two albums as
she worked with the Rolling Stones Mobile which we used on the first two albums along with the
Buzz Mobile."
"It was about this time that Charlie would sit with a pen and draw on pieces of bread.
Jim and I christened him 'the man wha' painted breed'."
