the floating world

composer
Written by: V Clarke

publisher
℗ Musical Moments / Sony-ATV Music Publishing (2001 - 2017)
℗ SM Publishing (UK) Ltd (2018 - )

background
"coming from the heart of Boy Wonder, haunted by the smiling ghost of Billy McKenzie... goldfish swimming in cool pools... and the world is moving on" - Jim

Written by Vince Clarke (more well known for Depeche Mode, Yazoo and Erasure) this instrumental was a radical reworking of a remix of Homosapien (first called Mix 1). Jim liked it so much he asked Charlie if it could close the Cry album.

It was the first song released from the album, being exclusively previewed on the official website (under an incorrect title of Disconnedit). It also turned up as a 12" single through Absolutely Records (released under the pseudonym Taormina).

Although relatively obscure as a song, it leant its name to the band's The Floating World Tour of 2002.
