Despite being a simple studio performance (in what could only be described as someone's patio bedecked
with roses) Simple Minds one brief for this video was simple: "out cool each other."
So Kenny was stage centre, calmly smashing his one drum in what can only be described as extremely cool
and causal, earning extra points for the coolest tie of the 1980s; if you looked up cool in the dictionary it offered
"Derek Forbes in the Sweat In Bullet video playing fretless bass and
dressed entirely in white";
Charlie was the complete reverse, dressed entirely in black, which was cool;
Mick had also gone for the black
motif but was playing the keyboards with cool menace; and
Jim attempted to outdo the lot of them with cool
posturing and a wry interpretation of the lyrics i.e. crouching down when singing "grow more". Well cool.

trivia
Jim’s right eye was still swollen during the shoot.
It was shot back-to-back with Love Song at Kensington Roof Gardens.
Malcolm Garrett used a frame from the video for the
Promised You A Miracle sleeve.
