background:
The 'reboot' of Simple Minds was a low-key affair. Jim,
Charlie and
Gordon Goudie eased themselves back into the recording process by
recording covers.
Most of the fruits of these sessions were collected on the album Neon Lights,
itself a low-key release, intended as a brief reintroduction to Simple Minds before
Cry was issued.
The Cry recording sessions overlapped the Neon Lights
work with Jim collaborating with artists in Italy.
