background:
The Our Secrets Are The Same line-up of Simple Minds
(along with Mark Taylor back on keyboards) played a short set of greatest
hits at Scotland Rocks For Kosovo.
The situation was strained as Derek Forbes and
Mel Gaynor formed a band for the gig themselves - after being told
Simple Minds weren't playing.
Derek and
Mel subsequently formed Forbes/Gaynor And Friends and
played several gigs in Italy at the end of the year - some cheekily billed as Simple Minds.

break-up:
Our Secrets Are The Same was finished and delivered
to Chrysalis/EMI. With Chrysalis being merged into EMI,
EMI trying to merge with another record company, and general disinterest in Simple Minds,
the album fell through the gaps in the schedules.
For the rest of the year, and most of the next, Jim is busy with
other projects.
