additional information
Intro... date unknown... purpose unknown... one of three undated tapes logged with Virgin.

Entitled Jams #3 (not really jams though!). All tracks are instrumentals.

5/4 is an instrumental version of Alive And Kicking. The song has yet to reach its final arrangement, and some of the keyboard and guitar parts are swapped. The bridge has been developed and appears after a double chorus after which the song progresses with the familar chorus structure. The coda continues for two minutes before coming to a faltering stop.

The instrumental Come A Long Way is incomplete as the first part is missing - suggesting 5/4 was recorded onto the front the tape at a later date. Its arrangement is the same as the album version. The second take [Rough #2] is only the coda with the band working on a better ending.

The first take of Reggae is a false start. The second take is an instrumental version of the entire song, clearly recognisable as I Wish You Were Here. The arrangement is close to the final album recording, but the end still needs work and this take comes to a faltering end. The third take is the most experimental with the band loosening up the arrangement, but it comes to a sudden halt with Mel questioning a rhythm. The fourth take

Someone Sequel is a slow tempo piano-led instrumental idea based around a typical verse-chorus structure. The chorus is clearly a fragment of Alive And Kicking. Of all the ideas on this tape, it was one which was never continued. Most of the song is there but the end of the tape is reached never the end and the audio is chewed.
