- After the success of New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84), Virgin purchased the back catalogue from
Arista and reissued the albums recorded for that label (Life In A Day,
Real To Real Cacophony,
Empires And Dance and
Celebration).
- There were also plans to reissue the Arista 12" singles.
- After numerous delays, only this 12" of I Travel eventually appeared. It was an odd release, insofar as Virgin packaged
only the absolute minimum number of songs, but went to the expense of commissioning new Assorted iMaGes artwork.
- The single was only issued on 12" although a 7" did reach
test pressing stage.
- With only two tracks, both which were previously available on far more interesting releases, it was always a mystery as to why
Virgin thought this was worth it. It was also a mystery to Virgin in Germany, who plucked the
extended version of New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84) from the German CD pressing
of the album and proceeded to export their version everywhere.
