background:
It started with Andy hearing via a friend that Simple Minds
were going to appear at the
Lisbon Lions 40th Anniversary; a celebration of Celtic’s
legendary victory over Internazionale Milan to take the European Champions Cup. However, after phoning
Charlie, and Charlie talking to
Jim, it became clear that no-one knew anything about it.
But from here the momentum grew. Andy "demanded" to play (being a Celtic fan) and
Eddie returned on bass. But Mel was unavailable,
so this left a temporary vacancy for the drummer. Therefore Jim McDermott entered the fold,
ten years after his session work for the Neapolis recordings.
The rehearsals, including footage of Jim McDermott and a bearded
Eddie Duffy, were filmed and the footage was released as part of
Live Bundle 6. A performance video of
Alive And Kicking was released in
Live Bundle 7.
