background:
Again Simple Minds swelled their ranks for the Street Fighting Years Tour.
Alongside new bassist Malcolm Foster was backing singer Annie McCaig and
percussionist Andy Duncan. Lisa Germano added violin,
repeating her appearance from Live In The City Of Light where she dubbed
violin over Someone Somewhere (In Summertime).
Several of the shows were recorded. Whilst the video Verona documents an entire
gig, several tracks turned up as single B-sides.
During a break near the end of the tour, the core of the band decamped to Amsterdam, where they worked on new
ideas. Several of these eventually turned up on The Amsterdam EP,
the band's last release of the 1980s.

break-up:
After the tour, everyone went their seperate ways although the core of the group were expected to return to
Amsterdam to continue the sessions for the new album. Exhausted, Mick announced
he'd prefer to go home and skip these sessions. Therefore Jim and
Charlie started work alone - they expected Mick to
get bored and show up, but he never did.
