AMSTERDAM
Simple Minds started 1989 with an EP entitled Ballad Of The Streets
which went to Number One in February - and they're ending the year in a similar spirit with an EP to be released on November 27th
entitled The Amsterdam EP.
So called as, quite simply, two thirds of its was recorded in Amsterdam this autumn during a break in the band's
current World Tour. The track listing is as follows.
Let It All Come Down - a track on the band's current album
Street Fighting Years. That album has, since its release in May, gone on to sell over
3 million copies in Europe and was Number 1 in 9 countries including the UK.
Sign O' The Times - is the band's interpretation of the classic Prince
track, whilst Jerusalem - is an instrumental version of the equally classic English hymn.
Simple Minds are currently in Australia on the Antipodean leg of their world tour.
When they return to Britain late this year, they'll be taking a short break, after which they'll be back in the studio starting work
on their next album! Workaholic eh?
Suffice to say The Amsterdam EP ends the 80s musically with one eye on the 90s... if you get
my drift!
