background
No Cure was reworked from an earlier song called The Cocteau Twins. This remoulding occurred either during rehearsal sessions at The Barn, Edinburgh where the final songs and their arrangements were knocked into shape; or during the Life In A Day album sessions themselves.

Whilst the melody was retailed, the song's tempo was knocked down a notch, and Jim came up with an entirely new set of lyrics.

The 24-track master was recorded in The Rolling Stones Mobile at Farmyard Studios, Little Chalfont on the 28th January 1979. Final mixing took place on the 3rd March 1979 at The Townhouse in London.

It was eventually sequenced to open the second side of Life In A Day and appeared during the band's 1979 tour. The band probably felt it had some potential - it was allegedly played during their first BBC Radio One session (but no-one has a copy) - but it was quickly dropped as they wrote new material.

lyrics
I see them walking,
You know they're walking at night.
Oh in the dark you know,
They're shining out so bright.
Your sarky voices are gonna come on so near.
As every picture becomes so clear.
You.
You come on so sharp,
Yet be so nice,
Tell me that you're so hot,
But you're as cold as ice.

There is no cure,
You're so blind can't you see?
There is no cure,
Can't buy no immunity.
There is no cure,
So keep your evil from me.
There is no cure.

They like to stay,
Oh come on,
Come on and stay up so late.
You gonna talk of all the things you just wanna hate.
You wanna come on,
Come on,
And make me so mad.
Inside your heart,
I know it feels so bad.

You.
You come on so sharp, Tell me that you're so hot,
But you're as cold as ice.

There is no cure,
You're so blind can't you see?
There is no cure,
Can't buy immunity.
There is no cure,
So keep your evil from me.
There is no cure.

Come on and do it.
Just want to do it.
They're going to do it.
Just want to do it.
There is no cure...
