"Stephen Lillywhite, CBE (born 1955) is an English five-time Grammy Award winning record producer.
Since he began his career in 1977, Lillywhite has been credited on over 500 records and
has collaborated with a variety of musicians including U2, The Rolling Stones,
Dave Matthews Band, Big Country, Peter Gabriel, Talking Heads,
Morrissey, Thirty Seconds To Mars, The Killers,
The Pogues, David Byrne, XTC, Siouxsie And The Banshees,
Simple Minds, The Psychedelic Furs, Beady Eye, Phish,
Counting Crows and Joan Armatrading. He has won numerous awards including the Producer

He dropped everything - including a production duty with Rush - to produce Simple Minds when
approached in September 1983. His
name had been floated around as a possible for both Sons And Fascination
and New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84) but their schedules never matched.
He produced Sparkle In The Rain and its attendent singles and remixes. He
initially joined the band for preparatory work at Rockfield in September 1983 before the album was recorded at The Townhouse
in October and November 1983.
