John Milarky was a catalyst; from fleshing out
Alan Cairnduff's imaginary band, to booking
the Doune Castle before the line-up had ever rehearsed together.
His first composition,
Pablo Picasso, was the band's first original title,
and a Simple Minds encore for a few years afterwards.
Increasingly at odds with the other half of the band, he left the first line-up of
Simple Minds along with
Alan McNeil in November 1977 (on the same day the
Abuser's single came out.)
He reappeared as lead singer of The Cuban Heels, who released a couple of singles and an album.
