background:
The core of Jim and
Charlie were joined by
Derek and
Brian to thrash out the demos for their new album. Whilst
Derek and Brian's involvement
was casual, Derek had rejoined Simple Minds by
July 1996.
Another reunion was announced when Pete Walsh was confirmed as the
new album's producer.
In March 1997, Mel met the band in London to add extra drumming
to War Babies. His involvement with the forthcoming
festival tour wasn't therefore totally unexpected, and warmly welcomed by fans.
