background
Odd and quirky even by Real To Real Cacophony standards, Veldt was
an inpenetrable instrumental, overdubbed with animal noises and mumbled threats.
The genesis of this much discussed song remains unclear. Whilst the Veldt is the South African prairie, and
the chimp impression is by Derek Forbes, the song was either about these huge
expanses of land, or formed around the plot of a Ray Bradbury novel.
A final exclamation mark appended to the bewildering A-side of the album, Veldt was never performed live (although it
was used as introduction music for the Real To Real Cacophony tour).
