background
This song was unofficially premiered by Jordi Tarda on the 14th October 2000.

This guitar driven rocker was originally considered single material by Chrysalis.

It was remixed by Phil Bodger in April 2000 for a proposed single. The single was eventually cancelled and Bodger's mix remains in the vault.

"Melodically this is proof that where the rest of us have blood, Charlie Burchill has pop hooks running through his veins. Lyrically the idea of Jeweller came from a ridiculous ad in the back pages of a trashy newspaper that I came across in a hotel lobby. Beautiful image nonetheless."" - Jim, Silver Box.

The song was just too good to leave on Silver Box and was subsequently reworked as The Jeweller (Part Two) for Black And White 050505.

lyrics
It's a long cold distance through the galaxies.
If my eyes were open wide, maybe I could see.
If a burned out future seems like all that's in store.
I'd tumble to the ground like a fading meteor.

Jeweller to the stars.
Jeweller to the stars.
Jeweller to the stars.
Jeweller to the stars.
That's who you are.

Ever been out walking where the air gets thin?
Or stranded on a planet losing out on oxygen?
Scream out 'Listen' in a silent place?
While feeling like you're falling, calling into space?

Jeweller to the stars.
Jeweller to the stars.
Jeweller to the stars.
Jeweller to the stars.
That's who you are.

It's a long cold distance through the galaxies.
My eyes were open wide, dazzling me.
If a burned out future is what's in store.
I'd tumble to the ground like a fading meteor.

Jeweller to the stars.
That's who you are.
