background
The working title for Someone Somewhere (In Summertime). It kept this name long after it
was renamed, even becoming the official title for a BBC Session.
The Monitor Mix #1 recording, which was committed to tape on the 18th May 1982, is
extremely bass and drum heavy. This instrumental version doesn't differ much from the album
version except for a count in and extended outro. It very quickly fades out.
The second Monitor Mix #2 is far, far better. This instrumental version doesn't differ
much from the album version except for a count in and extended outro. It's better mixed and fades
out extremely slowly.
Rough Mix #1 dates from the 30th May 1982 and is a shorter recording. It's a complete instrumental
version and doesn't much from the album version except for count in, extended outro fade and some extra
ideas and riffs from Charlie.
The Full Duration was recorded on the 12th August 1982 on Reel 2 of the album tapes. It is the full length version recorded for
the album. It includes count-in but also an extended outro which was edited down for the final album mix. Edit Sections
appears on the same tape, and consists of edited splices of the outro and chorus - it is incomplete as it cuts in and out.
Full Duration Instrumental appeared on the next reel (Reel 3).
