background
Probably an older song from the Johnny And The Self Abusers' collection, Lies was a sub-two-minute frenzied punk workthrough, similar in style to the equally frenetic Saints And Sinners.

It showed little musical progression except for a sporadic and wailing sax line from Milarky.

Composed between July 1977 and November 1977, it was considered worthy enough to record for the Abuser's second demo tape. This lone recording is the only record of this song, as it escaped bootlegging during the Abusers' heyday and was promptly forgotten by Simple Minds.

It was formally officially released on the The Early Years 1977-78 CD in March 1998. Questions over legalities, especially the financing of demo tape, saw the CD being swiftly withdrawn.
