background
This song was recorded for Graffiti Soul. It was one of the few songs not to be mentioned by
Jim before the album's release.
"Another Charlie Burchill one. I don't think Charlie gets
anywhere near the credit he should get. He's a genius. Not only does he play every guitar note on the album, he plays every keyboard note. He's a
wee Brian Eno - he's more than that. I think In Kiss And Fly you can really see a strength, which I think
Charlie' been shy with in the past. The song itself was
written in Nice - you got to hand it to the French - here when you go to the airport there's "You cannae park here man,
there's no way you're parking here" - whilst [in Nice] they've got a nice sign up at the airport saying "Kiss And Fly." It's so bloody
civilised. I thought I've just got to come up with a song with that title as those words go well together." - Jim

Was my imagination, or they told me it was there?
But I could see.
Within that situation everything’s a cross to bear.
I feel.
Some are in a coma,
Some are without sight.
You can feel the transformation in their bodies in the night.
Gone translucent, encircled in light
So bring back the lover’s chains.
No letters need reply.
Move over what remains.
Let us go kiss and fly.
Was only one solution that was in my head,
That I could see.
Spiritual confusion so more than I could stand,
I could feel.
Like someone in a coma,
Someone without sight.
Feel it in my body, feel it every night.
Gone translucent, encirled in light.
So bring back the lovers chains.
No need letters need reply.
Move over what remains.
And let us go kiss and fly.
Bring back the lovers arms,
Oh let me go deep inside.
Cool over all remains,
And let us go kiss and fly.
Kiss and fly,
kiss and fly.
I don’t think there’s much to tell you.
I don’t think there’s much to say.
I don’t think there’s much to tell you.
I know that you know so much more.
