immigrants

background
This song was demoed for Black And White 050505.

"Now revealed, this really is an intense record that we are making. One song in particular titled Immigrants, (only a working title, a song inspired by an astounding novel written by Tahar Ben Jelloin and titled “This Blinding Absence Of Light”) leaves me hanging onto the back of the studio chair."

"Built on an icy piano melody so emotional that it breaks my heart, it is also underpinned and driven by a turbo charged bass line that has the rawest energy we have demonstrated since The Kick Inside Of Me. Beautiful melodically throughout, the song seems to mirror a nightmarish journey that is absolutely unrelenting. Each time I listen the words and music gift me with so many varying images, but thankfully I think I just about sense a sliver of hope that ghosts over the chords that make up the coda of the song, as indeed the song characters head to the next stage of their destiny." - Jim

Eventually it became the opening track of the album: Stay Visible.
