Let There Be Love
single
SIMPLE MINDS
LOVE IS ORDER OF THE DAY

After a year of relative silence (bar an appearance at last year's Mandela Day Celebration at Wembley Stadium), Simple Minds release their first new single on April 1st.

Entitled Let There Be Love, the single begins a new chapter in Simple Minds history in a distinctly positive and fresh fashion. Let There Be Love a Kerr/Burchill composition, is the first material to emerge from last year's intensive recording sessions in Amsterdam and Scotland. An album, Simple Minds tenth, will be released later next month.

The current Simple Minds line-up includes the nucleus of Jim Kerr (vocals), Charlie Burchill (guitars) and Mel Gaynor (drums) as well as Malcolm Foster (bass). The single was produced by Stephen Lipson who was at the production helm on their last album Street Fighting Years which was not only a No. 1 platinium seller itself, but also yielded Simple Minds first British No. 1 single in the shape of the Ballad Of The Streets EP.

The 12" will carry another new song, also a Kerr/Burchill composition, titled Goodnight. There are a further two tracks on both the 12" and 5" CD formats - a 7" mix of Let There Be Love and a live version of firm stage favourite Alive And Kicking recorded in Verona on the last world tour.

This week, Let There Be Love sits comfortably at No. 6 on the U.K. charts.
