Simple Minds Blessing
Simple Minds follow up their worldwide hit, Alive And Kicking, with
a new single released on January 20. It's titled Sanctify Yourself (SM1) and is lifted from the band's
Once Upon A Time long player.
Sanctify Yourself will be released in 3 different formats offering 4 alternative versions of the song.
The 7" contains 2 versions of the track - the A side is edited from the LP b/w an instrumental version. The 12" contains an extended remix b/w a dub mix,
adn the third format will be a gatefold double pack containing the 7" versions plus 2 bonus tracks - live versions of
Street Hassle and Love Song, both
recorded last December at The Ahoy Stadium in Rotterdam. That concert will
be seen on a special edition of The Tube, transmission date to be announced shortly.
Simple Minds resume the European leg of their world tour next week and will
play Germany, Scandanavia, Italy and France before hitting British soil for their sold out appearances in
Birmingham, London and Glasgow at the end of February. Shortly before Christmas a third show was announced for Glasgow
but that too is now completely sold out.
Simple Minds are lending their name to Amnesty International for
1986 and will be donating the fees of 2 of their concerts (one in America, one in Britain) to their cause. "We're on
such a crest we want Amnesty International to get the benefit of all the people we're
laying to this year" commented band spokesman Jim Kerr.
