additional information
See The Lights was issued the same month as Real Life, issued to further promote the new album. The title track was mixed again by Julian Mendelsohn and issued in three different forms. The B-side was an old Simple Minds favourite, Theme For Great Cities. The track had been remixed by a New York DJ and issued as Corporation Of One’s The Real Life in 1988. This didn’t escape the attention of the band who used a similarly reworked version as the opener to their live shows, and then subsequently recorded it again as Theme For Great Cities '91. (A version with lyrics called Let The Children Speak appeared on Real Life).

The 12" featured the full length version of both tracks, and a limited edition 12" (which featured laser etched images of Jim, Charlie and Mel on one side) also included a wonderful live version of Soul Crying Out recorded at Verona. Whilst the video only included an edited instrumental version of the song, this 12" included the full live recording.

The Theme combined the tracks from both 12" releases and marked the appearance of this live version of Soul Crying Out on CD for the first time. This was the only track in Themes Volume Five to get its CD debut.
