Sanctify Yourself, the second single from
Once Upon A Time, was issued as Simple Minds toured
Europe as part of their huge Once Upon A Time tour.
Like its predecessor, the title track appeared in edited and instrumental forms. The two track 12" was far more interesting,
featuring a Bob Clearmountain extended version of
Sanctify Yourself backed with a radical dub reworking on the B-side.
A double pack limited edition 7" was also well worth tracking down as it featured
Love Song and
Street Hassle both recorded live at the
Rotterdam Ahoy on the 3rd December 1985.
The tracks were engineered and mixed by New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84) producer
Pete Walsh.
It appeared the original idea for this Theme was to stick rigorously to the 12" release and add the album track
Come A Long Way as the bonus (see the
themes documentation for more information). Luckily, the 12"-only rule was bent slightly for this
Theme and the two live tracks from the 7" double pack were also included; therefore ensuring all four tracks
appeared on CD for the first time.
