Not strictly a Simple Minds release, this promotional box set includes enough
Simple Minds goodies to merit its inclusion here.
So rare, it's existence was originally disputed. For a long time, I knew there was some sort of
Breakfast Club box set, and it included the Don't You (Forget About Me)
US promos, but that was it. In fact, for many fans, this will be the first
time they've seen it.
With the production notes dated December 26th 1984, and the
US 12" acetates being cut on the 4th
January 1985, it's probable that these 12" x 12" box sets were produced in January 1985, just in time for
the film's February 1985 release date.
The box contains:
- Don't You (Forget About Me) US Promo 12" single (A&M SP-17304)
- The Breakfast Club Radio Special US Promo LP (A&M SP-17307). This one hour radio
show featured music from the film, interviews with the cast, and chats with high school students.
- The Breakfast Club Cue Sheet & Liner Notes. This 12" x 12" two-colour 4-page
booklet includes the full production notes and the cues for the radio special.
- Don't You (Forget About Me) US Promo 7" single (A&M AM-2703)
- The Breakfast Club Advance Cassette (A&M SP-5045). Promotional cassette of the
full soundtrack album in custom sleeve.
- The Breakfast Club Poster
- The Breakfast Club Press Pack This A4 folder includes two black and white
promotional photographs of the cast, and 11 pages of typed production notes (see below).
