additional information
This sampler featured introductions to each track by Jim. The songs themselves were
peppered with two second gaps every minute; this was to deter copying.
The sleeve featured a different slightly different artwork and titles. The introduction on the back of the sleeve was also longer
than the version on the final album:
"We believe in the obvious - that to make music you have to be a fan of music.
Thankfully we remain foremost fans at heart. Even the very origins of Simple Minds lay in the
familiar event of a few school friends getting together to explore and often worship whatever mysterious music came our way."
"Our desire was to take that passion to a higher level of involvement by begging, borrowing and, on occasion,
even stealing whaterver instruments or equipment was needed for us to emulate and toy with the sounds of
our favourite records."
"More than two decadeds of self expression later - mostly spent writing and performing our own sounds
and compositions - we still find ourselves still very much connected to our initial sense of passion and the
relentless desire to play. We are flattered by an increasing number of artists/producers who seem keen to
sample and cover our music so it seems timely for us to once again spend a few days experiencing life as
a covers band!!" - Simple Minds 2001.
