additional information
Canadian copies of Glittering Prize 81/92 came with a readers' survey. If it was completed and posted, this limited edition Simple Minds CD was sent in return.

This promo was called "Limited Edition CD" on the spine and the artwork suggested that the contents were previously unreleased. A claim which was untrue as See The Lights was taken from the Real Life single, Alive And Kicking was plucked from the Love Song limited edition single and both Someone Somewhere (In Summertime) and Stand By Love had appeared on the Stand By Love limited edition cassette.

However, despite being compiled of previously released material, this promo was desirable as some of these live tracks had yet to appear on CD. It also replicated the artwork of the commerical pressings.

A large number of these promos were pressed and it still remains common today. Most will still be in mint condition thanks to the sturdy jewelcase.

additional information
It would appear that Virgin Canada pressed up too many copies of the Limited Edition (see above) and was left with surplus stock.

This would explain this odd packaging from Zebra Studios which appeared five years later. A repackaging of Limited Edition, it partnered the CD with a new sleeve, one which was blatent advertising for calendar designer Zebra Studios. On the sleeve's rear, and after the same label copy which appeared on the original CD's artwork, Zebra Studios listed their range of calendars, all under the title of A Visual Gift.

Probably one of the rarest promos ever released, although not one strictly promoting the band.

Many thanks to Otto for the scan.
