additional information
The end-of-year home-coming bash was always triumphant at Tiffanys but the band had extra cause for celebration after the well-earned success of New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84) and the associated tour. How better than to celebrate by playing almost the entire album (with the exception of the instrumental Somebody Up There Likes You) peppered with a few favourites from previous releases.

Mel Gaynor was now behind the drums, a position he’d taken up just two months previously. But his presence was already felt, giving the songs a sense of gravitas and solidity they’d previously lacked with Mike Ogletree’s lighter percussive style.

Some of the New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84) live versions had already started to transmute with new lyrics, new opening riffs and various alternative ideas peppering the mixes. "This has been the best year of our lives. I hope next year is the best of yours."

The show was broadcast by Radio Clyde and probably recorded by every Simple Minds fan in Scotland. One of these overplayed and worn tapes was the source of this inferior bootleg. Further insult was added to injury as the bootleggers opted to liberally use the fader to fit the entire concert on a single CD. Some tracks were prematurely faded out, others faded in, and one was faded both in and out.

Therefore search out the superior vinyl bootleg (All Kings Are White) or find a cassette featuring the original recording.
